MiniRoos Grassroots & Sub Junior coaches are volunteer parents. Without these parents, children would not have the opportunity to play soccer locally. All coaches are compensated for their work either through payment or reduction in fees for their own children playing at Yarraville.

As a community club we seek to encourage the support of parents and their families which helps contribute to keeping our costs low and affordable to families. This involves voluntary support on the Club’s committee and sub-committees, coaching, helping with game day duties such as setting up grounds and helping as a team manager. This ongoing support is appreciated and a required element for families interested in joining our community club.

Click on become a volunteer (webpage) to see where you can assist and what roles the club is actively looking for to fill. Otherwise, speak to a board member or contact us on our general email or via Facebook/Team App.

Trials for juniors begin early February. Seniors begin pre-season December or January and this is dependent on the coach. Trials are normally published on our website and/or Facebook page

This year the club is using the free FFV approved “Team App” to communicate information to teams, NOT the app we used last season. It is recommended that EVERY member downloads the ‘TEAM APP” onto their phone then searches for “Yarraville Glory FC”.

The majority of our communication this year will be via the “Team App”, especially in relation to training, sponsorship, events and match updates.

When you download the app select the age group / team that you are affiliated with (you can make multiple selections) to keep up to date with everything going on at YGFC. Make sure you allow ‘push notifications’ so you can receive alerts relating to training and events.

As set out by the FFV guidelines our junior soccer players are categorised into two groups according to year of birth. This is the category that you will register your child under, regardless of the team they will be playing in.

• Sub Juniors Players –U9 – U11 (born in 2005 – 2007)

• Junior Players – U12 – U18 (born in 2004 – 1998)

MiniRoots Grassroots (5-8yrs) runs separately from the Sub-junior & Junior program and caters for all 5-8 yr olds. We have a Summer program (Sundays from Oct-March) & Winter program (Saturdays from April – August) The Grassroots winter program runs from11am-

12pm, with some U8 children also playing through the Grassroots program in the Sunday U8 competition. This year the Winter Grassroots program begins with trials April 22 & 29 and commences 6 May – 16 September, with breaks during school holidays.

Registrations once received then need to be approved by the clubs registar, only when approved (and paid in full) will they be made active and the player permitted to train and/or play. The club has a strict no pay no play policy to ensure members are covered by the necessary insurance.

Guide to registrations can be found here (include link to website)

Photo for Player Registration card:

Following FFV & FFA regulations, the club requires ALL players from U11 – U18 to upload a passport style photo when registering online for the player cards which are checked by the referee before every game. Please make sure the photo is clear and only shows head & shoulders as unacceptable photos may result in exclusion from play.

Registrations contact: registrations@yarravilleglory.com.au

The Club register will communicate with players and families about team allocations. Current players/members from the previous season can secure their own place in a team by attending the trial and registering within the allocated time frame.

The club aims to tell players the team they will be playing in for the season a week before season commences. The players will receive information on how to register online and fees will need to be paid in full by end of March each year.

Team selection and team entry (level they play at) is always difficult. This is mainly due to numbers of players and their skill level. Some age groups have too many players and some not enough, some children prefer to play with friends but this is not always possible. The number of teams entered in one age group depends on having enough to field the teams each and every week without having too many on the bench. Also an increase in players in an age group means additional coaches are needed. If this occurs, the only possible way for the team to go ahead is for a parent/s to take on this role. (The club would support new coaches with FFV accreditation.)

As a community club, ultimately we want everyone to play, so we will do our very best to accommodate everyone. We ask you to support us during the preseason, by making sure your child trains in their correct age group so that we are able to make informed decisions about teams.Link to Junior policy

Yes, EVERY team is required to have a team manager to assist the coach with player and match details and distribute information from the Board and Sub-Committees to players. Please consider taking on this role as teams cannot playwithout a team manager.

It is easier with organising the pre season if we have team managers early, so please let us know asap if you can take on this role. There will be a team managers meeting at the end of Feb/early March email: registrations@yarravilleglory.com.au

Season starts weekend of April 22/23 and concludes in September. There are also some scheduled bye rounds. To keep up to date please view FFV calendar here
